UX Research & Design
discoverability - usability - implementation
As a UX Consultant, I was tasked with doing online discoverability audits for events sponsored by the New Mexico Department of Tourism. Using a rubric and research tools provided by the consulting company, I analyzed the event's online presence, including web discoverability, social media discoverability, audience connection, and any outside endorsements the event received. We pulled social media metrics from a tool called RivalIQ to assess their social media reach. I also made an audit of the event's websites for usability and aesthetics.
In addition to the audits themselves, I created a Social Media kit for Event Partners to share with participants to encourage consistent branding for the event. I also created a "How-to Handbook" that outlined step-by-step instructions to implement recommendations that were made based on the audit insights. More information on these deliverables can be found here.I also refined the presentation template used to provide information to stakeholders.
There was a wide range of event discoverability. From events with no website, no brand identity, and just a Facebook page to events with a very robust online presence but a website that needed a lot of usability attention. In the presentation with the stakeholders, I spoke to the UI/UX opportunities of the websites and helped to present the deliverables I created to set them up for success in implementation.
